Obituary
Donnie Dior Gray Jr. unexpectedly passed away on Thursday March, 16th 2023. He was 15 years old.
Donnie also lovingly known as DJ, was born on September 4th, 2007 in South Bend, Indiana to his parents Donnie Dior Gray Sr. and Lelia Chantelle White. At an early age, Donnie loved the Lord and going to church with his family. He has been a member of New Horizon Outreach Ministry since the age of two and was loved and cared for by all the members of the congregation.
He was a role model and mentor to his younger brothers, who looked up to him. He enjoyed listening to music and playing basketball at Heroes Camp. In his short life, DJ made many friends that he loved to spend time hanging out with and sharing laughs by playing pranks and telling jokes. He was a freshman in High School at the time of his passing.
Donnie is survived by his parents Donnie Dior Gray Sr. of South Bend, IN; Lelia Chantelle White of Cocoa Beach, Fl; his two brothers Israel and Christian Gray of South Bend, IN; his paternal grandparents Monique (Mark) Hockaday of South Bend, IN and Donnie J. Gray of Chicago, IL; his maternal grandparents Fred (Yvette) White of Cocoa Beach, FL; his paternal great grandmother Connie Smith of South Bend, IN; his maternal great grandmother Francis A. Pride of Muncie, IN, his uncles Jamond Smith Sr. of South Bend, IN and Joshua (Tabitha) White of Cocoa Beach, FL; his aunts Kim Thomas and Deja Sawyer of Chicago, IL, and his cousins Jamond Smith Jr., Jami'yah Smith, Love Smith, and London Smith of Indiana, Catherine White of Iowa, and Joshlynn White of Florida. DJ was loved by so many others including his Godparents Brent and DeAnna Carl, Rufus (Rayna) Jacobs,
Yolanda Smith-Turner, Yohondous Dickens; Mary Jenkins; Shenaa Jackson, along with a village of others. Proceeding Donnie in his death are his paternal great grandfather William Justice Smith, his maternal great grandmother Mosetta Forrest, his maternal great grandfather William E. Forrest, and his maternal great step-grandfather James Pride.
Services will be held on Friday March 31, 2023; 1 P.M at New Horizons Outreach Ministries, 56165 Mayflower Road, South Bend, Indiana 46619. Apostle Dennis Givens will bring the word. Friends May visit with the family an hour prior. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford's Mortuary Inc.
