Donnie Waller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Haisten McCullough Funeral Home on Sep. 27, 2025.
Mr. Donnie Waller, age 75, of Williamson, GA passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Brightmoor Hospice. Donnie was born in Pike County, GA on October 4, 1949. His parents, Hoyt W. Waller and Pauline Mcgee Waller, and brother, Randy Waller, all preceded him in death. One of Donnie's favorite childhood memories was helping his grandfather run the old rock store in Zebulon, GA. Donnie had fond memories of spending summers with his grandparents and often talked about all the wonderful times he spent with them. Donnie played high school basketball for the Pike County Pirates in 1966-1967. He was voted by his teammates as the Best Boy Athlete, which was presented by the American Legion Post 197, and received an athletic trophy. He led the team in scoring for the year 1967, with 28 points per game. The AJC ranked Donnie number 12 in the state of GA on one occasion. Unfortunately, a shoulder injury ended Donnie's basketball career. Donnie worked in the family business, Waller Well Company, where the motto was "No Water, No Pay." He was very happy working with his family and helping people who were having well problems. He enjoyed all of the people he got to meet through his job. Later on in life, he ventured into the home construction field in 2004-2006, where he was the contractor for two houses in Spalding County. He enjoyed fishing and working in the yard. He also found much joy in helping others. He always gave freely of his time and energy to people in need. He took pleasure in donating to his favorite charities, St. Jude and Salvation Army. He received a plaque for his generous support that helped to build a playground at the Williamson City Park, and he freely gave his time to keep the park maintained for many years. Donnie had many friends in Pike County, Williamson, GA and Griffin, GA. He was always kind and ready to lend a helping hand and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Amy A. Waller; daughter, Miranda A. Waller; sisters, brother, and brothers-in-law: Rita and Steve Worth, Judy and Ron Powers, Cindy and Randy Shelton, and Kenneth and Lisa Waller, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. It was Mr. Waller's request that no formal public services be held. A private viewing will be held Tuesday Sept. 30, 2025 at 1 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Westwood Gardens.
