Francis Donald “Don” Zonkel, 73, passed away on March 28, 2026. Born in Kewanee, Illinois, Don made his home in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he built a life centered on hard work, family, and the simple joys that brought him peace.
Don was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to both his career and his loved ones. He worked as a Capillary Manager for WS Energy Services, where he was respected for his commitment and perseverance. Outside of work, Don’s personality truly shined. He was funny, often silly with his family, and never afraid to do things his own way. His stubbornness was part of his charm, and those who knew him best will remember his unwavering spirit and the laughter he brought into their lives.
He found his greatest happiness spending time with his family, whether sharing stories, enjoying the beach, or heading out to fish, two of his favorite pastimes. These moments created lasting memories that his family will carry with them always.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Sheree; his daughter, Lisa (Brandon); his sons, Tim, Chris (Danielle), and Sean (Katy); and his cherished grandchildren, Gavin, Kendra, Jeffrey, Nathan, Chloe, Wesley, Kenley, Charly, Collin, Emma, Carrigan, Maisie, Claire, and Jaxon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Bridgeway Church, 3202 Rodd Field Rd, Corpus Christi, Texas. The service will be followed by a time of fellowship at the same location.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his dedication, humor, and the strong, steady presence he brought to those who knew and loved him.
