Dora Aurelia Cota, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on October 29, 2023, in Tucson, Arizona. She was born on August 24, 1948, in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico to Jesus and Maria Santos Aguilar. Dora touched the lives of many with her selflessness and compassionate nature.
Dora dedicated her life to caring for children as a child caretaker. She had a natural talent for nurturing and providing love and support to those in need. Dora's warm and inviting personality created an environment where children could thrive and feel safe. Through her work, she left an indelible mark on the hearts of the little ones she cared for.
Throughout her life, Dora found joy in simple pleasures. She had a deep appreciation for creativity and often expressed it through her hobbies. Decorating was one of her passions, and she took great pleasure in making beautiful table centerpieces that brought smiles to the faces of her loved ones. Dora was also known for her culinary skills; she loved cooking delicious meals for her family and took pride in seeing them gather around the table to enjoy her creations.
Dora's generosity knew no bounds. She approached life with an open heart and a helping hand. Her infectious humor brought joy to everyone around her, and she had a unique ability to speak the truth with kindness and honesty. Dora's friends fondly remember her as a very good person who always went out of her way to make others feel loved and appreciated.
Among Dora's proudest accomplishments were her children. She cherished them deeply and considered them to be the greatest blessings in her life. Dora's legacy will live on through Astolfo Aguilar Cota, Janet Denice Cota, Dora Aurelia Cota Apodaca, Geronimo Torres, Richard Cota-her beloved children who carry on her strength and kindness.
Dora leaves behind her loving husband of 57 years, Astolfo Moreno Cota, who stood by her side through thick and thin, sharing a love that will endure beyond the boundaries of life. In addition to her husband and children, Dora is survived by her siblings Rosemary Aguilar, Rachel Valenzuela, Martha Avechuco, Terry Delgado, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Maria Aguilar and her brother, Rene Pinuelas.
Dora's legacy extends through generations as she was a grandmother and a great-grandmother. She leaves behind Cori Julsing, Joshua Gomez, Adam Cota, Monique Evans, Amanda Guerrero, Ryan Linn, Joseph Gomez, Makenzie Smith, Michael Cota, Matthew Cota, Nicole Cota-her grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. Dora also had the privilege of being a great-grandmother to Victor Linn IV, Elliott Linn, Dennis Linn, Madison Evans, Jayden Lawrence, and October Julsing.
Services to honor and celebrate Dora's life will be held on November 6, 2023. The visitation will begin at 8:00 AM with a Rosary at 8:30 AM at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Tucson. The Mass will commence at 10:00 AM at Santa Monica Catholic Church on West Medina Rd. in Tucson.
Dora Aurelia Cota's memory will forever live within the hearts of all those whose lives she touched. Her warm spirit and kind soul will continue to inspire us to be selfless and loving towards one another. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman,
