Dora Dobson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 22, 2025.
Dora May Dobson, 88, of Spotsylvania County, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughter. She was the beloved daughter of the late Percy Sacra and Susan Carr-Sacra, and the only child among them.

Born and raised in Spotsylvania County, Dora lived a life marked by hard work, faith, and kindness. She worked for McLane for 30 years before retiring and then continued her dedication to serving others by working in the Spotsylvania school system cafeteria until the age of 81. She truly loved her work and the people she worked alongside, as well as the children she served.

Dora was a devoted member of Hebron Baptist Church, where she enjoyed worship and being involved in the church community. Known for her generous spirit, she would gladly give to anyone in need and never asked for anything in return. She was also a talented cook and baker, well known for making beautiful wedding cakes and preparing meals that brought family and friends together. In addition, she was a gifted sewer and quilter, creating countless baby blankets that she lovingly gave to family, friends, and members of the community.

In her later years, Dora faced the challenges of dementia, which was very difficult for her and her family, and ultimately contributed to her passing. Through it all, she remained surrounded by love and care from those closest to her.

She is survived by her children, Kimberly Marshall (Audie) and Neal Dobson; Neal's former wife, Rebecca Dobson; five grandchildren, Jennafer Hall (Hunter), Joshua Payne, Zack Dobson, Ethan Dobson (Zoie), and Xavier Dobson; two great-grandchildren, Brycen Hall and Savannah Hall; and a very close family friend who was like a daughter to her, Michelle Strong, along with her husband, Ronnie, and their children, Matthew and Daniel.

In addition to her parents, Dora was preceded in death by her husband, James Dobson; and three children who passed away in infancy.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Hebron Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow immediately in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Payne, Zack Dobson, Ethan Dobson, Xavier Dobson, Brycen Hall, Eric Payne, Alan Mastin, and Sean Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Raymond Carr, Donald Wheeler, Charles Chewning, and Hunter Hall.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this time. Dora will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her faith, kindness, and love of family and friends.
