Dora Ann Taylor

Dora Taylor was a deeply loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who passed away on January 22, 2026, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 61. Born on September 21, 1963, in Bell City, Missouri, Dora lived a life rooted in compassion, faith, and heartfelt dedication to those she loved. From an early age, she carried a nurturing spirit that guided her both personally and professionally. Dora devoted her career to nursing, beginning at Sharp Coronado Hospital in San Diego, where she gained invaluable experience and formed lifelong friendships. Her passion for caring for others later led her to Bayshore Medical Center in Houston, where she served as a lead nurse. Working within a predominantly Black and Brown community. Dora's empathy, strength, and steady leadership were deeply appreciated. She was respected by her colleagues and treasured by the patients whose lives she touched.

Family was the foundation of Dora's life. She shared 44 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Harold Taylor. Together, they raised five children: Dorian Taylor, Harold Taylor Jr. (affectionately known as Tay), Jewel Taylor, Stephen Taylor, and Stephan Taylor (the twins). Her love continues through her cherished grandchildren: Elijah Johnson, Charlotte Taylor, Xavier Taylor, Austin Virgin, Sade Taylor, and Erynn Taylor. Dora is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Lisa Marie Meekie, and her brother, Anthony Vee Robinson (Kelly). She is now reunited in eternal rest with her parents, J.D. Meekie and Charlotte Jean Walker Meekie Robinson Richie; her brothers, Jimmie Cornelius Meekie, Anderson Leo Meekie, Willie Gene Robinson Jr., and Antonio Lee Robinson; and her sister, Ceola Johnson Larry-Thomas.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Dora was known as a true prayer warrior. Her Bible was rarely far from her side; its margins filled with handwritten prayers and reflections for those she loved. If Dora knew you, you could be certain she was praying for you. She found joy in life's quiet, meaningful moments-reading scriptures, sewing and crocheting gifts from the heart, morning walks, caring for her pets, and sharing spontaneous road trips with family. She cherished watching football with Tay, enjoying lunch dates with Dorian, spending girl time with Jewel, movie nights with the twins, cooking with her grandchildren, and laughing freely with family and friends. Dora had the purest of hearts. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and the matriarch of the Taylor family-steady, compassionate, and deeply cherished. Her warmth, faith, and gentle presence left an enduring mark on all who knew her.
