On October 13, 2025, Dora Martinez Yanez, age 78, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her son's home in Texas City, surrounded by her loving family. Dora was born on August 26, 1947, in Madero, Texas to the late Catarino Martinez and Guadalupe Hernandez. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Dora is preceded in death by her parents and four sisters: Olivia Magallan, Maria Perez, Ernestina Diaz, and Hermelinda Martinez. She leaves behind her beloved children: Dana Zambrana, Armando Yanez, Israel Yanez, Carlos Yanez, and Obdulia Guadalupe Yanez Flores. Dora was the proud grandmother of JoMyra, Desiree, Stephanie, Armando III, Anthony, Angelica, Israel Jospeh, Luis, Celina, Daniel, Diego, Priscilla, Raul, Briana, and Ricky, and was blessed with many great-grandchildren and spouses.
She also shared her life and love with Manuel Salazar, her partner in recent years. Dora had a heart full of love for her family, friends, and the many animals she cared for, including a number of cats all affectionately named Michy, as well as her cherished birds.
Dora's passions included playing lotteria, dancing, watching The Price is Right and Novelas, and spending time outdoors. She was a welcoming soul, always enjoying gatherings with family and friends. Dora worked for many years at Morrison's Café at UTMB and later retired from the American National Insurance cafeteria in 2019.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, TX 77591. Dora's Celebration of Life service will follow at 12:00 Noon. Interment, Hayes Grace Memorial Park, Hitchcock, TX.
