Dorean Degg Obituary

Dorean M. (Clark) Degg

Dorean passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at age 90 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio with her family by her side. She was born in Toledo on November 15, 1932, the youngest child of Earl and Doris Clark.

Dorean grew up in Point Place and graduated from Waite High School in 1949. She met the love of her life, Frank Degg and they were married on October 18, 1952. Dorean had a great passion for sailing. She would do anything to be on the water. She sailed with Jolly Rogers Sailing Club and truly loved every minute. In her stories, she would say" Sailing is where I felt most at peace".

As she grew older, her newfound passion became "giving". She gave of herself to others in so many ways. She dedicated her life, first to her beloved family and second to her church. St. John The Baptist Catholic Church and the Lord always held her unwavering devotion. She spearheaded the funeral luncheon ministry, spent many Sundays' singing beautiful hymns in the choir, she was involved in multiple ministries and festival committees for many years. She was always there to lend a hand. Dorean was a Past President of the PTA at St. Johns and was an avid golfer and bowler.

Dorean had worked as a timekeeper for 25 years at Dura, where she served as treasurer for the UAW, all while raising her four children in their Point Place home.

She was the most beautifully created wife, Mom and Grandma. No one could ever replace her warm, kind, loving spirit. There was nothing she wouldn't do for anyone. Each holiday, picnic or family gathering she always ensured everything was perfect in every way. She spent hours, days and sometimes weeks preparing food, baking cookies and making each of us special little gifts. She is loved immensely and will be greatly missed.

Dorean is survived by her children, Flo (Rick) Hoyt, Earl (Lori) and Todd (Naoma); her loving grandchildren, Holly, Josiah, Adam, Lindsey, Ashley, Serena and Derek; as well as her 15 great-grandchildren, adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, loved in-laws and countless others. And we certainly could not forget her sweet, beloved dog Pepper, who will miss her very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Doris (Robert) Francis and Earl Clark; brothers, Earl and Dick; beloved husband, Frank G. Degg Jr.; and son, Frank G. Degg III.

Please join the family in celebrating her life.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 in the Thos. I. Wisniewski Funeral Home 2426 North Reynolds Rd. Toledo, OH. 43615.

Dorean was a neighbor and a friend for over 8 years. She loved living on our cul de sac. Neighbors back then were like family My husband Mike would take Frank to the cemetery down the street to lock up the gates at night. That way Dorean could take the car for choir rehearsal. She loved singing in the choir almost as much as she loved sailing. When she talked about sailing as a young women you could see the love in her eyes for the water. This I understand because I also like being on the open water. It is my happy place. Dorean now
you can sail forever.
