Doreen Ann Bock (Schwitalla), age 87, of Brainerd, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025. Doreen was born on October 21, 1938, in St. Cloud, Minnesota and grew up in Delano graduating in the class of 1957.
On November 18, 1961, Doreen married the love of her life, Harvey L. Bock. Together, they built a loving home and raised two sons, John and Jay. Harvey preceded Doreen in death in February 2010.
Doreen spent many years working in the culinary field, sharing her talent and passion for good food with several local organizations and restaurants throughout the Brainerd Lakes Area. Later in life, she found her true calling in child development, dedicating her career to working in daycare, especially with babies and infants. Her warmth, patience, and genuine love for children touched countless lives. Mentoring and supporting young people was one of her greatest joys and lifelong passions.
Doreen will be remembered for her friendly, outgoing nature and her ability to make everyone feel welcome—whether she had known them for years or just met them. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided her in her kindness and compassion toward others.
She is survived by her sons John (Cynde) Bock and Jay (Julie) Bock; grandchildren, Nathan (Kayce) Bock, Stephen (Allie) Bock, Mikayla (Zach) Lawson, Jennifer (Stephen) Werkmeister, and Jaclynn (Colton) Syler; and numerous great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
Doreen’s family and friends will remember her for her generous spirit, strong faith, and the love she poured into her family and community. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched and the memories she created with those she cherished most.
The memorial service will be on Tuesday, November 4th at 11:00 with visitation one hour before followed by a luncheon after the service. The casket will not be open during the visitation or service.
