Doreen Lynn Lakamp

Doreen Lynn Lakamp peacefully passed at home in Boerne, TX on Sunday, 12 February; she was 52. She is survived by her husband, David (who she graciously tolerated for nearly 22 years); two amazing children (most of the time), Jackson and Hadley; parents, Warren and Kathleen; siblings, Marcie, Andy and Nathan; numerous nieces and nephews; and dogs Skipper and Hero (with an outstanding debate which is really the "good" one). Doreen will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, heartfelt kindness and incredible love she shared with those around her.
Born in Binghamton, NY, Doreen was raised in Brackney, PA but found her love of the beach and water after moving to the Florida panhandle. A dream afternoon was on Pensacola Beach with a Bushwacker in hand.
Doreen took on the toughest job in the world as a military spouse. Between the many deployments, moves and other trials, Doreen always found joy and happiness in our Navy family. She would always explain to our kids that birthdays and holidays weren't set by a date on a calendar, but when we were all together.
Doreen's greatest love in the world were her children, Jackson and Hadley, our family and of course the puppies (if 98lbs and 85lbs still qualify as puppies). This love was shown through the tireless hours in the kitchen (world's greatest chicken pot pie), crafting Halloween costumes, April Fools' Day jokes, practice spelling tests (math was left to Dad), reading The Monster at the End of This Book (over and over), and making every holiday and birthday the most special day ever. She never let an opportunity for the smallest event to pass without adding her love – Friday night movie snacks (who knew M&Ms mixed so well with popcorn), a Kung Fu Panda DVD and a bag of candy and beef jerky for a road trip, and notes in a lunch box just to say I love you.
As evidenced by her Facebook page, Doreen was loved by all who met her, wherever she lived – childhood in Pennsylvania, life at the beach in Navarre and Pensacola Beach, Florida, military family from San Diego and Monterey, California, to Jacksonville, Florida, to our journeys from Texas to Arizona and back to Texas. She is a beautiful soul, taken way too soon, but will always be loved and remembered. Thank you for being such a special part of all our lives. We love you, Baby.
Doreen has gifted me a patio full of plants and succulents, which she will love watching me struggle with. So in lieu of flowers, please honor the love Doreen gave us all by spending time and sharing your hearts with your family and friends. Visitation will be held at Ebensberger Fisher Funeral Home on Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Ebensberger Fisher Funeral Home. A reception will follow the funeral service from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the home of JJ and Angie Rowe, 111 Cool Rock, Boerne, TX 78006. Gate code #5013 (Esperanza Subdivision).
