Doreen (Teale) Rounds, 76, of Overland Park, KS, though originally and in her heart of Rome, NY, entered into eternal rest on January 14, 2026.
Doreen a woman whose joyful spirit and boundless love touched everyone lucky enough to know her. Doreen was the kind of person who could light up a room with just her smile — the same smile that welcomed friends, comforted family, and made strangers feel at home. Her grandchildren were the center of her universe; she never missed a chance to brag about them or spoil them a little more than she should. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and of course animals. She had a soft spot for every whiskered face that wandered her way, and her ability to keep cats alive “for way too long” was a running family joke that she proudly owned.
She knew how to live life to the fullest. She had a mischievous streak and a love for the bright lights and excitement of a casino. The rhythmic clatter of slot machines and the thrill of taking a chance always brought her joy — and she approached life with much of that same spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Betty, Frances, Marie, Charlotte, Rose, Charles, and Leonard. She is survived by her son, Jack (Julie) and her daughter, Colleen (Billy); her beloved grandchildren, Zoe (Alexis), Shane, Jade, Victoria and Jack., along with many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
Her life was a beautiful blend of love, humor, generosity, and fun — a true reminder to care deeply, laugh often, and never take life too seriously.
May her memory continue to shine brightly and may we all carry a little bit of her warmth and kindness with us.
There will be no services per Doreen’s request. Those who knew and love Doreen are encouraged to honor her memory by remembering the good times that were shared.
The family would like to thank the caregivers Kansas City Hospice for providing compassionate care in her final days.
