Doreen Tomon Obituary
Born in Chelsea, London, England on September 14, 1925, Doreen was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Kathleen Mahr Hewitson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis F. Tomon on December 15, 2012. They were married on November 30, 1946. Doreen, along with several other war brides, formed a local organization in the 1950's and met for several decades. Doreen was a member of Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church, the Ladies of Charity of the Church, a Lector, a Eucharistic Minister, the choir and funeral choir of the Church. She was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and delivered Meals-on-Wheels. Doreen enjoyed playing cards with her card club friends.
Surviving are Doreen's 5 children, Daniel and Julie Tomon of Fresno, OH, Patricia Burns of Ellwood City, Kevin and Linda Tomon of Fombell, Therese and Jim Palagallo of Ellwood City and Michael Tomon of Ellwood City, 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 10 great- great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Doreen, was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Russo and 2 brothers, Robert Patrick Hewitson and Daniel Hewitson.
Friends may call at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Ave., Ellport on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Holy Redeemer Church on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 10:00 AM by Fr. Carmen D'Amico.
Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in Doreen's name to Meals on Wheels, PO Box 242, Ellwood City, PA 16117, Divine Grace Social Services, 300 Crescent Ave., Suite 1, Ellwood City, PA 16117 or the Ellwood City Area Public Library, 415 Lawrence Ave., Ellwood City, PA 16117.
