SALEM - Dorhman F. Treadway, 92, formerly of Calcutta, died December 4, 2025, at Allay Senior Care in Lisbon.
Dorhman was born on June 12, 1933, in Stratton, Ohio, the son of the late Franklin and Dessie (Shepherd) Treadway.
A graduate of Toronto High School's class of 1953, he embarked on a career that began at American Paper Co. in Boardman. His dedication and strong work ethic were evident as he transitioned to Salem Label Co., where he continued to contribute his talents from 1966 to 1974. Dorhman's professional journey was also marked by his time as a truck driver with the Columbiana County Highway Department, and he concluded his career at Penn Power, retiring as a lime operator at the Bruce Mansfield plant in 1993.
An active member of the community, Dorhman was a member of the Southeast Friends Church, now Damascus Friends, Salem Campus, and a former volunteer firefighter for the Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department. His fraternal bonds included being a 50+ year member of the Free and Accepted Masons of the Scottish Rite and a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of the East Liverpool Riddle Lodge No. 315, the Keramos Council No. 95, the East Liverpool Chapter No. 100 of the Royal Masons, and the Al Koran Oriental Band in East Liverpool.
Beyond his career and community service, Dorhman found joy on the greens, golfing in the Senior League at Eagle Pass Golf Course in New Garden. His love for the game was matched by the camaraderie he enjoyed with his fellow league members. Traveling was another source of pleasure for Dorhman, especially the years he and his wife Shirley spent wintering in Florida, creating many lasting memories and soaking in the sunshine. During the summers, Dorhman and Shirley enjoyed lake life at their Guilford Lake house and relaxing on their pontoon.
Dorhman leaves to carry on his memory, his wife the former Shirley Liebold Paynter, whom he married June 16, 1996; his daughter, Catherine (Jim) Johnson of Lisbon; stepsons, Donald (Deborah) Paynter of Salem and Ronald Paynter of North Carolina; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Dorhman was preceded in death by siblings, Herman Treadway, Erma Racz, and Betty Dorff; and his former wife and mother of his daughter, Ramona Simpson Treadway.
A private burial service was held at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Empire, Ohio, with plans for a celebration of life service to be announced at a future date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Lisbon, 114 E. Washington St., Lisbon, Ohio 44432.
