Dorina Burklund was born to Ercole (Butch) and Della Bucci (Elisio) on October 15, 1932, at home on 19th Street in East Moline, Ill., where she lived until she married. After graduating from United Township High School, she was employed by Illinois Optical and later by East Moline School District #37 as a secretary in the main office at John Deere School.
Dorina married Bruce Burklund on May 27, 1961, at St. Anne's Church in East Moline. Together they welcomed four children and were later blessed with ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She loved watching them compete in a variety of sporting events and celebrating all their accomplishments, big and small.
Dorina was a proud member of the Illini Hospital Auxiliary and the East Moline Senior Citizens. Her hobbies included cooking, shopping, swimming at the YMCA, playing cards, gardening, traveling, going to the boat for a show, and cheering on the Chicago Bears, Cubs and the Indiana Fever. She loved animals of all kinds, from the wildlife in her backyard to the many family dogs.
Dorina leaves behind her sister, Anita Bruce; her children, Wade Burklund (Appleton, Wis.), Brad (Billie Sue) Burklund (Hampton, Ill.), Gina (Mike) Allison (East Moline, Ill.), and Richard Burklund (Port Byron, IL); her grandchildren, Corey, Kelsey, Kayla, Brennen, Baylee, Ashley, Aaron, Ian, Tanner, and Madeline; her great-grandchildren, Kenny, Carter, Makenna, Grady, Jacoby, Landyn, Ryider, and Miller; nephews, Dan (Jodi) Bruce and Eric (Tara) Bruce; sisters-in-law, Greta, Marica (Joe), and Bonnie; and several other family members and friends whom she loved dearly.
Special thank you to care providers Tammy and Sue, and the nurses at UnityPoint Terrance Park.
She is reunited with her parents, Ercole and Della Bucci; her husband, Bruce Burklund; her in-laws, Glenn and Nina Burklund; her sister-in-law, Joyce; and her brother-in-law, Earl (Margie).
