Doris M Abel

Doris Mae Abel (Balke), age 89, passed away peacefully on November 25th, 2023, at Eden Meadows East after a brief illness. Doris was born on June 23rd, 1934, in Oshkosh to Lester and Rose Marie Balke. They both preceded her in death in 1989. She was married to Melvin Abel on November 13th, 1965; he preceded her in death on September 29, 1986.
Lutheran by faith, Doris was baptized, confirmed, and married at Martin Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. She graduated Oshkosh High School in 1952.
Survivors include her son, David Abel, nieces, Dianne DeBehnke and Jill DeBehnke, and nephews Daniel DeBehnke, Mike Balke and William Balke.
In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her brothers, James Balke and David Balke as well as a sister, Mary Ann DeBehnke.
A funeral for Doris will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes-Westside (100 Lake Pointe Dr)
on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 1PM. A time of visitation will be held from 12PM until the time of service.
Doris was fortunate to have a cherished friend in Candace Corbett, who has taken care of her son David for over 17 years and also helped Doris over many years.
The family of Doris would like to thank the staff at Eden Meadows East and Rehab for the loving care they gave her during her stay there. We would also like to thank Compassus Hospice for helping Doris during her final days.
