Doris Kay Alston

1941 - 2026

Doris Kay Alston Greenville - Kay, as she was known to her friends, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, after a remarkable 9-year effort to live positively with Alzheimer's disease. Always friendly and outgoing, she continued to dance, go to ball games, take walks, play with her grandkids, and live a full life. She was 84 years old.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 4 P.M. at Wilkerson Funeral Home, 2100 E. 5th St, Greenville, NC. Visitation will be prior from 2:30-3:45 P. M.

Born in Asheville, NC, she graduated from Lee Edwards High School and later obtained a BFA degree in Interior Design from East Carolina University.

After graduating from ECU, she worked as an interior designer with A B Whitley company for many years and loved the company and the people there. She later worked with Clark Gallery and also as a receptionist with Pitt Surgical.

Always a person who loved life, hobbies included hiking, snow and water skiing, dancing, reading mysteries, jet skiing, Sudoku, and skydiving, among others. And she loved driving her Corvette with the personalized license plate "WHPLSH".

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Inez Matheson of Asheville, NC. She is survived by her husband Paul, her son Rodney, her daughter-in-law Susan, grandson Gray, and granddaughter Anna. All of Greenville, NC.
