SUNBURY - Doris M. Barbush, 92, passed away peacefully on November 5,2024, at Country View of Sunbury, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Sept. 13, 1932, in Youngstown, the daughter of Michael and Anna (Chasar) Gaytko.
Doris graduated from Chaney High School in 1950. She worked as an office manager at General Fireproofing until her retirement in 1960.
Doris was an active member of Holy Family Church, where she contributed her time and talents to the Ladies Circle and the Rosarian Ladies Club. Her faith and community involvement were integral parts of her life, reflecting her strong values and dedication to serving those around her.
Her husband, Thomas J. Barbush, whom she married Oct. 17, 1959, died April 8, 2001.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughters, Susan M. (John) Casale of Granville, OH, and Lori A. (James) Croyle of North Jackson; her son, Thomas J. (Terri) Barbush of Maineville, OH; and her sister-in-law, Jo-Ann Gaytko of Chanhassen, MN. Doris cherished her eight grandchildren: Stephen (Leigh) Barbush, Robert Barbush, Michael (Chelsea) Casale, Nicholas (Katie) Casale, Lauren Casale, Patrick Casale, Thomas Croyle, and James Croyle. She was also a proud grandmother to four great-grandchildren: Dylan, Julia, John, and Aria.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Bernard M. Gaytko.
Family and friends may call Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
Prayers will follow visitation at 10:30 am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at Holy Family Church.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ohio Library for the Blind, 17121 Lakeshore Blvd. Cleveland, OH 44110 or to Bella Care Hospice, 110 Polaris Parkway, Suite 302 Westerville, OH 43082.
