John Schreiber Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 12, 2026.
John Schreiber was born 05-21-1960 and passed away much too soon on 02-02-2026.

Survived by wife of 38 years Joni (Abbott). Sons Jacob, Devin, Dylan and Billy. John was a man who loved his family above all else, yes, even his guns and ammo!

Proceeded in death by parents William and Emily Schreiber, brothers Robert Schreiber and William Schreiber.

John graduated from Chaney High School in Youngstown, Ohio in 1979. In 1981, he and his mother moved to Minnesota to be closer to his oldest brother and family. John got a job with General Mills, where he stayed for 28 years. He also met the love of his life, Joni. In 1987, Joni and John were married and started their life together. They had their house built from the ground up. They both wanted children and ended up with four boys! John loved sharing adventures with his boys and went on many camping trips, vacations, and Boy Scout trips. He thought experiences were more important than things. John was a gun enthusiast, and as such, taught his boys everything from cleaning to shooting. Guns are an important part of the Schreiber family beings.

John will be greatly missed by his wife and sons. Also, his dog Toby is really sad and depressed wondering where his dad has gone.

To everyone who loved and cared about John, please feel free to leave a special memory you have of your time with him and/or his family.

Thank you everyone for your love and support during this extremely difficult time in our lives.

I (Joni) was definitely not ready for our journey together to come to an end. We still had many plans of places to go and experiences to share. I love you John!
