Doris Cranford Beam, age 89, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Northside Hospital Forsyth in Cumming, GA. She was born in Lyons, GA on April 25, 1936, to Johnny Thomas and Rosa Nell Bell Cranford. Doris graduated from Collins High School in 1955, embarking on a journey that would lead her to impact the lives of many.
Following her high school graduation, Doris moved to Atlanta, where she began her career at Atlanta City Hall. After she married and began having children, they relocated to Buford, GA, where she embraced the roles of devoted homemaker, mother, and a teacher’s aide for her children’s classes. Throughout her life, Doris exemplified the values of family and community.
Doris had a variety of interests that enriched her life and the lives of those around her. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, even documenting all the game details by hand. She also loved traveling with her family, often staying up late playing cards. Doris also took immense pride in supporting her grandchildren by attending their events- their Granny, always there as their biggest supporter. Additionally, she enjoyed nothing more than cooking for her family, especially meals where she could share vegetables she had grown in her garden.
Doris was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Winfred Beam, and her siblings, Gene Cranford and Robie Fort.
She is survived by her children, Johnny Winfred Beam of Buford, David Rickey Beam of Buford, Teddy William (Tammy) Beam of Loganville, Pamela Lee Beam of Buford and Randy Thomas Beam of Buford; siblings, Dorothy Helen Thaxton of Brunswick, Rosa Lee Skinner of Hoschton, Ray (Mary) Cranford of Guyton, Jesse (Glenda) Cranford of Reidsville, Julian (Sharon) Cranford of Beaverton, OR, and Dean Cranford of Reidsville; grandchildren, Stephen, Maggie, Stephanie, Patrick, Brett, Emily, William, Sarah, Allison, and Charles ; 9 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 14, 2025 with the funeral services to follow at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with her grandson, Reverend William Beam officiating. Interment will be at Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Pallbearers will be Stephen Beam, Brett Beam, Patrick Beam, William Beam, Charles Beam, and Kaden Beam.
