Ms. Doris Ward Blount, born on May 3, 1950, in Pitt County, to Johnnie and Bydie Ward. She departed this life on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
Doris graduated from WH Robinson Union High School. She was known for her strong work ethic, dedicating many years to various companies, including Empire Brush, Fountain Boat, Grady White, and A&B Cleaning, where she continued to work until August 2024. She was a faithful member of Living Faith Church, where she found community and spiritual fulfillment.
Doris is preceded in death by her loving parents, Johnnie and Bydie Ward; as well as her
brother, James Ward, and sister, Vydie Ward.
She leaves behind a cherished family, including her children: Bennette Blount (Shabeth), Dennis Blount, Yolanda Green (Mark), Jeanette Blount (Shaun) and Detron Blount (Jessica); she was a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren: Jamere, Zaire, Latrice, Dequanta, Kayla, Madison, Cameron, Joshua, Keturah, Lacaunya (Alex), Kamilia, Samari, Deonna, and Ashlyn; she was a beloved great-grandmother to 5 great-grandchildren; Doris is also survived by her brothers: Johnnie, Andrew (Ree), Claudius, Bobby, Harry (Tonya), and Larry; her sisters: Louise, Mary, and Caleather; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will greatly miss her warmth and kindness.
