With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Doris Jean Boggs, March 11, 2025, at the age of 86.
Doris and Marvin were married on October 28, 1956, at her parents' home in Frametown, West Virginia. If you were to ask Marvin how it felt to be married for 68 years, he would say, "Not long enough." A proud graduate of Gassaway High School, Doris devoted much of her life to serving others, especially children. She never missed an opportunity to mentor, guide, and support young hearts and minds. From leading the junior and bumper bowling program to serving as a Girl Scout leader and Boy Scout den mother, Doris poured her energy into shaping the lives of those around her. She dedicated countless hours to her church, serving as secretary, leading the Women's Circle Group, teaching Sunday school, and organizing Vacation Bible School every year. Doris never met a stranger-her warmth and kindness turned acquaintances into lifelong friends. In her later years, she worked as a secretary for several insurance offices, seamlessly transitioning from one retiring agent to the next before ultimately retiring from the Jerry Osburn Nationwide office. She is preceded in death by her parents, Newton and Arlene Frame; her brother, Allen; her nephews, Nathan Hughes, Edward (Patch) Frame and grandson, Timothy Kollert; and her granddaughter, Kaitlyn Boggs.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Marvin, their children, Kim (Rick) Rice of Creston, Carma (Mike) Kollert of Sterling, Mike Boggs of Columbus, Barbara Boggs of Spencer, and Kyle (Heather) Boggs of Shelby, NC. Doris' legacy continues through her 16 grandchildren; Joshua Rice, Andrew Joseph (Dyan) Rice, Trevor (Tiara) Rice, Justin (Shelby) Kollert, M'Shelly (Chris) Schwan, Greg (Stephanie) Wise, Jessica Wise, Kristina Boggs, Michael (Kevin) (Liz) Boggs, Kayla (Richard) Sheaffer, Tyler (Megan) Boggs, Dylan (Sonia) Boggs, Conner Boggs, and Braden Boggs; her 22 great-grandchildren, Carter Brauer, Max (Kiley) Dowling, Robert Kollert, Brady Kollert, Georgia Kollert, Jordyn Schwan, Evalyn Schwan, Fred Schwan, Trent (Z'Marrie) Ray, Haley Burrows, Princess Emily Wise, Ian Clayborn, Zach Wise, Alyssa Clayborn, Madison Wise, Michael (Jax) Boggs, K.C. Matthew Vance, Aiden Boggs, Callan Vance, Harley Sheaffer, Laurel Sheaffer and Oaklynn Boggs as well as her three great-great-grandchildren, Charlie Kelley, Zarina Ray, and Casen Kelley. She is also survived by her special nephews, Newton Hughes and Chris Frame; sister, Merleene Frame Hughes and dear family members, Amy Voshall, Samantha Voshall, Tyler Voshall.
Doris embraced life with a youthful spirit and a joyful heart, making a tradition of celebrating her 29th birthday every year. Her warmth, faith, and unwavering love for her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Services will be Saturday, March 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Sterling United Methodist Church with Pastor Don Trigg officiating. Burial will be in Sterling Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. In lieu of flowers, donations to Sterling Fire Department, 13845 Kauffman Avenue, Sterling, Ohio 44276, in her memory.
