DAYTON — Doris Faye "Dottie" Bourne, 76, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, at The Sanctuary of Wilmington Place in Dayton.
She was born April 14, 1949, in Hamilton, to the late John and Minnie (Cochran) Sasser. Dottie was a graduate of Preble Shawnee High School. She retired from the benefits office at Miami University in Oxford. She was an active participant in her community within various organizations, such as the Butler County Saddle Club, Preble County 4-H and Preble County Ohio Horseman's Council. Her favorite activities included sewing, painting, baking, and camping; she was an avid card and bingo player. Dottie was a very family-oriented person and was active in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren's lives and events. She had a servant's heart and always put others before herself.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Darrel Gene Sasser.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years Jerold L. Bourne; children Denise (Scott) Withrow, William Bourne and Stacy Lawton; granddaughters Taylor Leedy, Tristen (Jacob) Evans, Alexandra Lawton and Brooke Lawton; great-grandchildren Tinley Leedy, Teagan Leedy, Tipton Leedy, Walker Evans and Whitley Evans; and sister-in-law Deborah Sasser.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24, from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 226 W. Main Street, Eaton.
