Doris Bronson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services Inc on Aug. 12, 2024.
Many people believe that "life is a grand adventure", but very few people are capable of finding adventure in everyday life. Doris Bronson was one of those people. Doris departed for her heavenly adventure on August 10, 2024, weeks after celebrating her 97th birthday with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They will honor her legacy by continuing to recognize and enjoy life's simple moments.
Doris was born in Oldham, England and embarked on her first grand adventure when, at age two and a half, she traveled with her mother and brother on the SS Doric to Ellis Island. Many of Doris's later adventures included her loving husband, the late Daniel Bronson, Sr., who caught her eye when Doris was just fourteen and who indulged her lively spirit during their 66 years of marriage. Together, they raised four children who blessed them with nine grandchildren who, in turn, blessed the family with fifteen great-grandchildren.
Doris loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed the chaos and laughter and was often the cause of it. She initiated more water battles than all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren combined. She taught everyone to play "Blind Man's Bluff", turning rainy afternoons into playful extravaganzas. She served rice pudding as a meal, orchestrated fierce games of Spoons, and encouraged everyone to eat dessert before dinner so as to "fill up with the good stuff". Midnight trips to the grocery store, midday excursions to Boscov's, and afternoon tea, complete with a sweet treat were ordinary occurrences for Doris, who found excitement in every day. She enjoyed playing Dominoes, Rummikub, and Pinochle with friends and family.
Doris will be remembered for her humorous ways and her willingness to create and embrace adventure. As her friends and family continue on their own journeys, they will apply the lessons Doris shared and pursue joy in everyday life.
She is survived by two daughters: Janice, wife of David Cramp of Gastonia, North Carolina, and Linda, wife of David Uhas of Pottstown, PA. Also surviving are daughter-in-law, Carol Bronson, of Lititz, nine grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Daniel Bronson, a daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, Carol, Ronald Sr. & Ronald Jr. Hartley, and two brothers, Raymond and Milton Batley.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Doris' memory to the Kinsman Fund of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, 625 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA 17566 (please make checks payable to "QPRC" and write "Kinsman Fund" on the memo line).

I remember the laughter, the banter between Doris & Dan, the fun I had when visiting them as a child.
Knowing the families have been friends for 5 generations is so amazing! I´m happy to have had all in my life. Great memories!
Love, Karen Ann Rupp

It seems Doris was always in our lives. Her mother and my grandmother were friends in England and my mother Ethel (Webster) Rupp and Doris were good friends. They came from England at the same time and always kept in touch. As a child I remember visiting them and they also visited us. We ate tomato pie when we visited in Philadelphia and they loved our local ice cream parlor in Coalport. They were at my wedding Doris and Dan doing what they could to help. Doris and Dan were in Myrtle Beach with my husband Larry and I when we bought a place we hoped to retire to. So many good memories. When here granddaughter moved to NC we reached out to her and she would come to us when she couldn´t get home. Then her parents moved to NC. Doris and I are last of immediate family. We have kept in touch throughout the years and I will miss her even if our connection of late was by mail. My prayers and thoughts are with all the family. Love Jill (Rupp) Peacock
