Doris Vess Buff, 92, of Marion, passed away at Rose Hill Retirement Community on the evening of Wednesday, August 2, 2023.
Doris was born in McDowell County on April 21, 1931 to the late Claude Vess and the late China Fender Vess. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Nunnally and her second husband, Olis Buff; her sister Lucille Elkins and her brother, Claude Vess Jr.
Doris was a founding member of McDowell County Ball Room Dance Club. She retired from the McDowell County School Central Office. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Marion. Doris will be greatly missed.
Surviving Doris are her two daughters, Deanna McKinney (Phil) and Rhia Turner (Joe); her sister, Lillian McKinney; a grandson Justin McKinney and a great granddaughter, Piper McKinney.
A funeral will be held in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Allen McKinney officiating. Receiving of friends will take place prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
