Doris passed away in her residence with her son by her side on July 7, 2024. She was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on August 10, 1944 to Gerald D. Campbell and Anita Callahan Campbell.
Doris had a loving soul and a spunky spirit. She loved fishing, dancing, playing cards with family and friends, and good food. She was a world champion bass fisher in 1983 and qualified for 8 national championships, as well as won an abundance of trophies and plaques. Her greatest love was her family; and her grandchildren were her heart. Her son, Rafe, was her pride and joy, and her face lit up every time he walked in the door. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Doris leaves to cherish her memory her son, Rafe Canik and Edie; stepdaughters, Sandy Jones and husband, David, and Dana Broussard and husband, Roy; brother, James Campbell and wife, Rhonda; grandchildren, Cameron Canik and fiancé, Tori, Colton Canik, and Collin Canik; step-grandchildren, Reagan Jones, Katherine Jones, Cody Broussard, and Thomas Broussard; five great-grandchildren; nieces, Monica Fruge, Stacie Conner and husband, Tim, and Bridgette Webb; nephew, Chase Campbell; as well as great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Charles “Chuck” Canik, and her sister, Geraldine Campbell.
