Doris Mae Chittenden, a cherished soul who graced this world with her kindness and unwavering spirit, departed from this life on November 14, 2025, in her beloved Cleveland, Tennessee. Born on August 8, 1945, she lived a life full of love, laughter, and a remarkable career spanned more than 45 years as a Licensed Cosmetologist. Her roots were firmly planted in Cleveland, where she dedicated her professional life to enhancing the beauty of others, leaving an indelible mark on the community she served.
A woman of unparalleled generosity, Mrs. Chittenden had a knack for finding joy amidst life’s trials. Her positive outlook was a beacon of light for many, effortlessly laughing off challenges that would leave others in despair. Those who had the privilege to know her often remarked on her kind demeanor and infectious spirit. She approached each day with warmth, uplifting those around her with her gentle presence.
Mrs. Chittenden’s legacy extends beyond her professional achievements; she is lovingly remembered by her family. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Bramlett, as well as her cherished nieces, Rachel Beard, Melinda Ruth, Aimee Swafford, and Rosa Stephens. Her nephews, Randy Prince, Jimmy Stephens, and Brent Burgner, along with several great nieces and nephews, hold dear the memories shared with her.
In the embrace of eternity, Mrs. Chittenden joins her beloved husband, Don Chittenden, and her parents, Chester and Lula Mae Kibble Stephens. She is also reunited with her brother, Benny Stephens, her sister, Gelene Burgner, and her nephew, Shawn Burgner, all of whom await her in the arms of loving grace.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Chittenden's caregivers, Colleen and LJ McMullin, and Matt Stromberg, whose support and compassion provided comfort during her twilight years.
Visitation will be held at Poole Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cleveland on November 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A funeral service to honor her remarkable life will take place on November 19, 2025, at 12:00 PM, followed by her burial at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens at 1:30 PM.
As we gather to celebrate the life of Doris Mae Chittenden, let us remember her laughter, her unwavering kindness, and the beauty she brought into our lives. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
