Doris Cochrane Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fern Creek Funeral Home - Louisville on Jun. 13, 2022.
Doris Evelyn Cochrane, 101, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022. Evelyn was born in Barwick, Ontario, Canada, on September 18, 1920. She was the daughter of Barbara (Black) Love and Norman Withrow Love.
At the age of 15, Evelyn, along with her parents and siblings, moved from Ontario to Spencer County, Kentucky. She finished her high school education at Shelbyville City High School, graduating in 1936 at the age of 16. After graduation she enrolled in the Bryant and Stratton School of Business in Louisville.
Evelyn married Garland Sherrill Cochrane on February 29, 1940. They were married for 75 years, until Garland's death in 2015.
Evelyn enjoyed reading and gardening, but most of all she loved to travel. Her world travels took her to South Africa, China, England, Wales, Scotland, France, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Greece, Egypt, Israel, and Jordan. Her favorite places to be and live, however, were at home in America – the beaches of Florida, the mountains of Tennessee, and the lakes of Kentucky.
Evelyn was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church and a resident of The Enclave of East Louisville.
Besides her husband and parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her daughter Jean Sherrill (Cochrane) George, her sisters Betty (Love) Turner, Noreen (Love) Day, Shirley (Love) Cantrell, and her brother John W. Love.
She is survived by her daughter Sandra Love (Cochrane) Wilder and son-in-law John Terry Wilder and brother-in-law Earl Cantrell. She is survived by 4 grandchildren: Matthew Jordy (Michelle) of Carrboro, North Carolina; Julie Teigen (Jeremy) of Emerson, New Jersey; Wendy Yates (Troy) of Paducah, Kentucky; and John Andrew Wilder (Abby) of Louisville, Kentucky; and 7 great- grandchildren.
The family would like to thank The Enclave of East Louisville and Hosparus Health Louisville for their wonderful care and encouragement.
