Doris Marie Coffman

Doris Marie Coffman, born on March 7, 1929, in Yancey County, NC, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, at Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC, at the age of 96.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. She dedicated her professional life to serving as a secretary for the Tennessee Department of Labor before retiring to spend more time with her family and pursue her passions.

A woman of strong faith, Doris was an active member of the Fellowship of the Word Church, where she found solace and community. Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her church activities, as she volunteered in various capacities at Park Ridge Hospital and contributed her time to the Pisgah Center for Wildlife. Her compassionate spirit and tireless dedication to service were an inspiration to all.

Doris was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Alden Hunter and Nellie Mae Robinson Maney, and her cherished daughter-in-law, Micki Sanders. She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Frank Wallace Coffman; her devoted sons, James Bentley Sanders, Jr., and Alden Maney Sanders and his wife Melanie; her treasured grandchildren: Jason Sanders, Jamie Sanders and his wife Brandy, Gabriel Sanders, Jody Sanders, Jeannie Sanders, and William Sanders; and her adored great-grandchildren, Isaac, Kayleigh, Hannah, Elijah, and Ayla.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, February 23, 2026, in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with Elder Roger Bright officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
