Doris Corker Obituary
Doris Dymacek Corker, daughter of Frank and Lillie Dymacek, passed away on January 7, 2026. She was predeceased by her parents (above); her two brothers, Carlton and Robert (Bobby) Dymacek; her beloved husband, James Corker, Jr.; and her son, James Corker III. Doris is survived by her daughter, Sandra Pool (Robin); and her daughter-in-law, Donna Corker (the late James Corker, III). She was blessed with four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Megan Ariail (Casey), Melissa Alhmad (Randy), Robert Pool, and Brittany Kiefer (Charlie).
Her gentle, kind nature and strong faith brought comfort to all her family and friends. She liked to start each day with a reading from her favorite devotional publication. She was a friend to all and never met a stranger.
Doris was born in Louisa County, VA., and grew up on a farm in Montpelier, VA, where she had many chores and responsibilities as a child and young adult. At the age of 21, she married the love of her life, James "Junior" Corker, and their journey together began for the next 65 years. They eventually moved their family to their new home in Glen Allen, Virginia, where, as a wife and mom of two wonderful children, she perfected her skills as a baker of cookies, cakes, pies, and southern-style dishes. She dearly loved to bake and share her sourdough bread and cakes with others in her family and community. Her passion for cooking led her to bake birthday and wedding cakes for many family members. Doris also loved listening to various types of music, dancing, and gardening.
Being a grandmother and great-grandmother were also a treasured part of Doris' life. She shared her love of reading with all her grandchildren, and she made a significant impact in all of their lives. Her warmth, laughter, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will take place at Bliley's - Staples Mill on Tuesday, January 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a memorial ceremony to follow.
