Doris Sulicz Curran Scheef, 94, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026 at her home in Versailles, Kentucky. Born May 8, 1931 in Hammond, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Helen Kocal Pandak. Doris graduated from Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond, Indiana. She began her career with Rand McNally in Hammond, Indiana before moving to Versailles, Kentucky where she retired from Taylor Manor Nursing Home. Doris was very hard-working and compassionate; she spent many years working for Taylor Manor Nursing Home. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Leo Catholic Church.
Doris was preceded in death husbands, William Sulicz, Ewell Curran, and Gail Scheef. She was also preceded in death by her son, Paul Sulicz, daughter, Kelly Jo Curran Courtney, and stepson, Joe Curran.
Doris will be lovingly remembered by her children, Andrea Blakeman (Russ Baum), Bill Sulicz, MaryBeth Hoyland, Marcia Burns, Vicki (Scott) Duncan, stepchildren, Devon Scheef (Gary) Coon, Allison Scheef, Rod (Lee Ann) Curran, close grandchildren, Evan Curran, Matthew Courtney, and many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:30 am on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at St. Leo Catholic Church, Fr. Chris Clay officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rose Crest Cemetery.
Memorial donations are suggested to Taylor Manor Nursing Home, 300 Berry Ave., Versailles, KY 40383, or St. Leo Catholic School, 295 Huntertown Rad, Versailles, KY 40383. Friends and family are encouraged to leave messages of condolence and share memories here on Doris's tribute wall.
