Doris Ann (McNamee) Danyko, age 84, passed away peacefully in her home in Boynton Beach, FL on May 23, 2024. She was born on October 19, 1939 in Yonkers, NY to Loretta and Charles McNamee. Doris was a graduate of Fairlawn High School in Fairlawn, NJ in 1957.
Doris is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael J. Danyko; they were married for 39 years and raised their family in White Plains, NY. She is survived by her children: Michael (Stephanie), James (Elaine), Cathy (Billy deceased, Jim) Malone-Batema, Laurie (Paul) Powers and Lynn (Chris) Ryan. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Nicole, Julianne (Kevin), Meghan (Andrew), Kaitlyn, Cassidy, Michael R., Brittany, Paul, Jamie, Michael P., Gavin, Meredith and Natalie along with two great granddaughters: Josie and Katie. She also leaves behind her devoted sister, Janet Tyther, nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.
Doris was an Overseas Telephone Operator at AT&T in White Plains, NY for over 20 years. While working there she met many close lifelong friends and they enjoyed their vacations on Long Beach Island, NJ. In 2011, Doris moved to Boynton Beach to be close to her childhood best friend, Betty. She was joined by her sister, Janet, in 2015 where they enjoyed the pool, shopping and eating at their favorite restaurants. Doris was an avid reader and a game show enthusiast especially, Jeopardy. Doris’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing.
Visitation will take place at Ballard-Durand in Elmsford, NY on Thursday, May 30 from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. A funeral mass presided by family friend, Fr. Jack Rathschmidt, will take place at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Elmsford, NY on Friday, May 31 at 10:00 A.M. Doris will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in White Plains, NY, following the mass.
