Doris Jean “Granny Doris” Davis, was born September 25, 1954, to the late Sam Smith, Jr. and Bertha Geneva Pope Smith.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Andrew Davis, Jr.; father, Sam Smith, Jr.; and brothers, Howard “Billy” Pope and Doug “Herms” Smith.
Doris leaves to cherish her mother, Bertha Smith; two daughters, Twana (Eric) Davis and Carmen “Cam” Davis; two grandsons, Keilando Benford and QuenShawn (Sissy) McCroskey; four granddaughters, Nekika McCroskey, De’Quesha Davis, Ali Shea Bates and Fronzarea “Fronzie” Batts; one sister, Alice Brown; five brothers, Mike Smith, Roy (Nora) Smith, Gregory “Smoke” Smith, Dr. Rodney (Karla) Smith and Lewis Smith; sister-in-law, Brenda Hodge; brothers-in-law, Jerry Davis, Barry (Tisha) Davis and Donald Davis; ten great grandkids; a host of nieces and nephews; and loving and devoted friends, John (Chico) Marable and Denise and Marshall Fields.
Doris graduated from Rockvale School. She worked at American Can Company in Shelbyville, TN, Nissan, Perfect Equipment and Dexters. She was a member of Webb Grove AME Church where she served as the trustee, President of the ushers, an usher and the class leader of Class #7.
Doris was an amazing, loving woman. She loved her family more than anything. Her grandkids and great grandkids meant the world to her. Doris adopted so many kids through her kids and grandkids that she treated as her own. Doris loved shopping and cash-apping for her grandkids. She loved to cook, sew and most of all, she loved spending time with family on Sundays at her mom’s. Doris also loved to decorate her home and her grandkid’s home. She was always making sure everyone was taken care of and wanted for nothing. Doris “Granny Doris” was always there to listen when you needed someone to talk to. Granny Doris will be missed by all that loved her.
