Doris Drowne Obituary

Doris M. (Fertitta) Drowne 91, of Franklin, passed away Thursday February 22nd at Milford Regional Medical Center after a brief illness surrounded by her family and friend.
Doris was born July 13,1932 at Milford Hospital to Gasparo Fertitta and Doris (Pearson) Fertitta. She was an only child and lived her entire life in Franklin.
She is survived by her son Dana Drowne of Pawtucket RI, her daughter Dori of Woonsocket RI, her granddaughter Virginia Goulston and her grandson in law Max Goulston on North Easton MA, her granddaughter Julianne Drowne of Cumberland RI, her grandson William Drowne of East Freetown MA and her beloved great-grandson Rex Goulston.
Doris graduated from Franklin High School in 1950 and married Raymond Drowne of Norfolk in 1952. She worked in retail her entire career starting out at JJ Newbury's in downtown Franklin until its closure in the 1970s. She worked at Almy's dept store at the Walpole Mall until its closure in the late 80s. She finished her career spending 23 years at Marshalls in Franklin and retired at age 79.
Doris loved to travel with her friends and family to Coastal Maine for many years. She loved to watch sports, especially her beloved Red Sox. She held seasons tickets to Fenway for many years. She was as knowledgeable about baseball as any sportscaster and was one of the original members of Red Sox Nation. Doris was also a gifted photographer who had an incredible ability to create photography and portraits on her printer suitable for framing. She loved to eat out and spend time outdoors. She enjoyed playing cards and Rummicube with all her friends at Eaton Place.
Words cannot describe how much she will be missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Wednesday February 28th, in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. at 11AM.
Burial will follow at Union Street Cemetery, Franklin.
Calling hours are Tuesday Feb, 27th, from 5-7PM.
