Doris was a life-long lover of classical music having begun piano studies at the age of 5; she was a fine pianist as well as piano teacher, and for many years she and Bruce held season tickets to the Pittsburgh Symphony and Pittsburgh Chamber Music Society. She was a member of the Tuesday Musical Club, occasionally performing in their club recitals. As an avid gardener, Doris was a member of the Linden Garden Club and kept a beautiful garden at home.
