Doris Ferry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP - West 38th St. on Jan. 1, 2026.
Doris May Ferry, 90, of Erie, PA, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, December 30th,2025, leaving behind a life filled with love and cherished memories.
Doris was born in Erie on March 29th, 1935, daughter of the late Raymond and Lillian (Petachi) Onorato.
Doris will always be remembered for the love she showed her family and friends, her delicious Italian cooking, her quick wit, and her feisty personality.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Doris loved sewing, camping, bingo, and spending time with her family. She expressed her love through cooking, rarely letting anyone leave her home hungry. Caring for others brought her immense joy and purpose.
Doris is survived by her daughter Kimberly Ferry, companion Michael Markey, grand daughters Ashley Spisak (Brian) and Melissa Seggi (Joe), great grandchildren Chase Spisak, Anthony and Sophia Seggi, several nieces including Pam Lewis with whom she was always close, nephews, and adopted grandchildren including Kari Hollenbeck (Jake), and Ashley Gregory (Derek Smith). Doris is also survived by her best friend since childhood, Adrienne Sardini.
Doris was educated at Blessed Sacrament School and later attended West Millcreek High School. She worked as an inspector at Elgin and helped run her husband's business, Aldor Trucking, as a bookkeeper. Doris also devoted many years to caring for her home and raising her daughter as a loving stay-at-home mother.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Alvin Ferry, her brothers, Raymond "Buck" Onorato, Charles Onorato, Donald Onorato, James Onorato, and Richard Onorato, and her sisters, Jean Thompson, Geraldine Thompson and Linda Griffith, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at Blessed Sacrament Church at 1626 W 26th St. from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral mass at 11a.m. on, Friday, January 9th, 2026, with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Pleasant Ridge Manor for the compassionate care and kindness they showed Doris. Your dedication, patience, and warmth brought comfort and joy to her life, and for that, we are truly thankful.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Doris's memory to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, a cause she often spoke of with hope for a cure for her granddaughter's sister, or to the Erie Humane Society, reflecting her love for animals.
