Obituary
Doris Grant Bryant was born on May 8, 1926 in Jacksonville, Florida to Roy Howard and Marie Merritt Williams. She departed this earth and ascended to heaven, Sunday, March 26, 2023. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, godson, and husbands.
Doris received her formal education at Douglas Anderson and Stanton High Schools. She was a well-known citizen of the Southside Community of Jacksonville. She was very involved in the Parent Teacher Association and other organizations at her daughter's schools.
Doris was employed by Duval County Public Schools as a Parent Educator and eventually became a Teacher's Aide primarily at Holiday Hill Elementary School and remained in that position until her retirement. After retirement she worked at FAMCO Learning Center.
She was an active and faithful member of Jerusalem Baptist Church for many years, where she served in many capacities. After moving to the Northside of Jacksonville with her daughter for a while she moved to Rosalind Villas Senior Apartments. She became affiliated with United Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. As her health began to fail she became a resident of a local nursing facility where she eventually reconnected with her home church, Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted daughters, Cassandra Smith and Joyce Warren; grandsons, Kristopher Smith, Kelvin Smith and Jarrett Smith; great granddaughters, Alexandria Bartley and Ambar Smith; goddaughter, Avis Mathews; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
