Doris Harshbarger Obituary
Doris Avant Harshbarger, of North Charleston, passed away on February 8, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 1, 1937 in Charleston, SC to the late Maurice and Mattie Avant. Doris is survived by her adoring husband, Chester Harshbarger; her children, Jamie (Brenda) Hardick, Jack (Claire) Hardick, and Neva Harshbarger; her siblings, Louise Atkinson, Nina Page, and David Avant; her grandchildren, Latisha Cummings, Chessie Harshbarger, and Jamie Hardick II; her six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Doris, or "Maam", as she was affectionately referred to by her family, loved the Lord and enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, and milkshakes. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on February 13, 2024 at Carolina Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Simplicity (Lowcountry Funeral Home) in Ladson.
