Doris Hobson
Aug 26, 1925 - Dec 9, 2025
YADKINVILLE - Mrs. Cana Doris Money Hobson, 100, formerly of Old Fletcher Road, left this earth to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to live in her new heavenly home on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Cadence Assisted Living of Clemmons.
Born August 26, 1925, in Yadkin County, Mrs. Hobson was the daughter of the late B.C. and Vallie Brown Money. A woman of quiet strength and steady compassion, she devoted much of her working life to caring for others-first as a Nursing Assistant at Hoots Memorial Hospital in Yadkinville, and later through private duty nursing in the community, where her kindness and gentle presence brought comfort to many.
Mrs. Hobson was a faithful and dedicated member of Union Grove Baptist Church. She served wholeheartedly as a Sunday School teacher for several classes, sang as a choir member, and was an active part of the Prayer Team. Known by many as a prayer warrior, she had a special gift for making people feel appreciated, offering warmth, encouragement, and a listening ear wherever she went.
At home, she found joy in life's simple blessings-loving her animals, including Scotty the horse and Toby her dog, and spending time sewing, crocheting, and creating thoughtful craft items for her family. More than anything, Mrs. Hobson cherished her role as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Her steady care and tender heart shaped a home filled with love, faith, and devotion.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hobson was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie Cline Hobson; her brothers, Brodie Money and Ben Money; and her sisters, Lola Brown, Ura Martin, Ruth Whitaker, Lela Wiseman, and Ada Lee Jester.
She is survived by her sons, Ted Hobson and wife, Catherine, and Rex Hobson and wife, Beverly; grandchildren, Meredith (Rev. Ryan) Showalter and Landon (Nikki) Hobson; seven great-grandchildren, Mason, Maddox, Molly, and Marshall Showalter, and Charlie, Henry, and Ollie Hobson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Union Grove Baptist Church. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Union Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Kenny Gooden and Rev. Ryan Showalter. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2401 Nebo Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
The family would also like to express their gratitude to Cadence Assisted Living of Clemmons, Trinity Elms Rehab, Bayada Home Health, Trellis Hospice, Dr David Lee and Staff, Pastor Kenny Gooden and Union Grove Baptist Church Care Ministry for all of the loving care and support given to Mrs. Hobson through the years.
