Doris Marie Holmes-Jones passed away in Memphis, Tennessee at the age 73 on January 16, 2026, after an extended journey with chronic kidney disease. She graduated from White Station High School, Memphis, Tennessee, and was adventurous living and working in several states such as Texas, Indiana and Illinois. Doris was a friendly and charismatic person who enjoyed chatting with strangers, although she could be quick tempered on some occasions. She had great admiration and love for her nieces and nephews generally loving all children. Doris worked at Texas Instruments early on in her career and various jobs during her later years returning to Memphis and marrying Norfleet Jones, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, James William and Gazella Waller Holmes, and brother James Edward Holmes. Doris is survived by her brothers Jerome Holmes (Millie), Michael Holmes (Doris) and sisters Roberta Albright (Herman) and Vernita Hilliard (Michael), as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and close friend Mary Cooper.

The memorial services for Doris will be at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, Germantown, Tennessee. The date and time for the services are to be determined.
