Doris was born on February 27, 1939, to Eolie and Blanch Dilks in Temple, Oklahoma. She graduated from Temple High School as salutatorian of her class in 1957.
After graduation, she married the love of her life, Doyal Humphries, on June 1, 1957. They immediately moved to Rankin, TX where they raised their family of three girls. Doris went on to study cosmetology and practiced as a cosmetologist for many years. Doyal and Doris moved to Cortez, CO in 1977, then moved to Bloomfield, NM in 1979, and then finally moved to Farmington, NM in 2019.
Doris accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a very early age while attending vacation bible school. This led to being a faithful servant of Jesus throughout her life. Her faith was inspirational. She brought the gospel of Jesus to many places and people of all ages. She read her bible every day, and she put her faith into action. She taught children in Vacation Bible School for many years. She served as a women's Sunday school teacher and as a 4th grade Sunday school teacher. She was active in the Women's Missionary Union (WMU) and in the Girls in Action (GA's). She participated and helped prepare meals for youth once in Boise, ID; once in San Antonio, TX; and twice in Salt Lake City, UT. The fruit of Doris's faith abounds from the example she set for her family and friends to the many lives that have been touched because of her willingness to be God's hand while she was here on this earth.
Doris was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She was known as an excellent cook. Many people requested her homemade pies and cookies, which she skillfully prepared and provided when she could. Her close family remembers her for her contagious laughter and her funny family stories. We will miss her greatly.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her 5 brothers and her 3 sisters. She is survived by her husband Doyal; by her daughters Pam (Rick) Siluk, Paula (Jerry) Holden and Sharon (Rusty) Ware; by her brother Charles Dilks and her sister, Judy Butler; and by her 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held at First Baptist Church in Bloomfield, NM on Monday, February 5 at 9:00 am. Funeral services will follow immediately at 10:00 am.
