Doris Jacobs was born on July 9, 1930, to Eva Shady and Paul Gera. On March 29,1947, she married the late James Jacobs. Together they raised five children, Edward Jacobs, James Jacobs, the late Larry Jacobs, Diane Singer and Lisa Hauf. She was blessed with many grandchildren and recently great grandchildren. She passed quietly and peacefully in her home on August 29, 2025. Her greatest passion in life was tending to her family and caring for them. She raised 3 sons, close in age, then 2 daughters. Then came the grandchildren, where she was happy to offer babysitting services and even helped to raise Sarah and Matt by providing day care. Her favorite times were family gatherings. She loved to host parties and events for family members and friends at her home and made everyone feel welcome, cooking and providing endless servings of the famous and delicious ‘grandmom’ bread. Doris enjoyed many hobbies over the years. She loved Bingo, shopping, going to the movies, playing cards, including weekly meets with her card club (the ‘ladies’ and at one point, one gentleman). This card club relationship spanned 6 decades! She would play cards with whoever was willing and also enjoyed scrabble and any game offered. Doris loved to travel and was quite adventurous. She was blessed to be able to travel later in life visiting CA to see Diane, FL to visit Larry, and even ventured to several countries. She also enjoyed needle-point, blessing her family with many homemade treasures. Doris is survived by four of her children, Son Edward & wife Kate of VA, Son James & wife Nancy of VA, Daughter Diane of CA, and Daughter Lisa & husband Mark. She is also survived by her grandchildren Daniel Jacobs & wife Jennifer, Jennifer Jacobs & husband Jordan Ellison, Lyndsay Jacobs of WA, Sarah Hauf & husband John Panetti of CA, and Matthew Hauf. Also, through marital union, Eric and Madeleine Mejean and Matthew and Haley Singer. Also survived by new great grandchildren (finally!) Wyatt James and Ada Josaphine Ellison, and through marital union Theo and Soraya Ellison, along with a host of other relatives, and friends including many nieces and nephews. Doris is now reunited with her husband James, son Larry, and many other family members in Heaven.
