Doris Faye Young King, age 79, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, at her home.
Funeral services for Doris will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born June 20, 1945 in Maury County, Doris was the daughter of the late Wallace and Emma Demastus Young and wife of the late Roger King. She worked for Shoney’s as a waitress for twenty-five years and as an in-home care giver. She loved dancing , country music and shopping at Goodwill. Her granddaughter and three great granddaughters were the loves of her life.
Doris is survived by her son: Lee (Gina) Young of Columbia; sisters: Hester Smith of Culleoka and Kathey Gillum of Cornersville; granddaughter: Brittany McMeen; great granddaughters: Chesney Stein, Laikyn Stein and Kendyn McMeen.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Kenny Gowan; brothers: Ewing, James, Billy and W.C. Young
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Cook, Tommy Woods, Ed Plant, Jon Stein, Justin Gillum and Timmy Morton. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnson Cozart, Billy Young, Staff of Hospice Compassus and friends of TDR Dance.
