Doris King Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 18, 2026.
Doris Eileen King, 80, of Gainesville, Texas, passed away on March 17, 2026.

Doris was born on July 21, 1945, to Seamon and Marian Baker. She married the love of her life, Fredrick Wayne King, on November 20, 1964, at Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving, Texas-a marriage filled with love, faith, and devotion that remained the foundation of her life.

For over 50 years, Doris was a faithful and devoted member of Marysville Baptist Church. Her relationship with Christ was the cornerstone of who she was, and she lived her faith daily-with grace, kindness, and a servant's heart. She loved reading her Bible, spending time with her church family, and sharing encouragement and love with everyone she met.

Doris had a rare gift-she made people feel seen, valued, and loved. She was an amazing friend to all, always offering a listening ear, a warm smile, and unwavering support. To know her was to be blessed by her kindness.

Above all, Doris was the best mom and a proud grandmother. Her love for her family was deep, steady, and unconditional. She created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and faith, and her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped and the love she gave so freely.

She is survived by her children, Jodi Denton and husband Pate of Prosper, Texas; Rodney King of Gainesville, Texas; and Shelly Lazzaro of Dallas, Texas. She was a beloved grandmother to Mallory Denton, McKenna Denton, August Lazzaro, Nicholas Lazzaro, and Grace Lazzaro. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Malzer and husband Eric, and niece Amanda; her nieces, Dee Grubowski and Amber Keenan, daughters of her beloved sister Mary Jo, who preceded her in death; along with her sister-in-law, Linda, and Jim Hardy of Hurst, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Seamon and Marian Baker, and her loving husband, Fred.

Doris leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and friendship that will continue to inspire all who knew her. While she will be deeply missed, there is comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior.

Memorial services for Doris King will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 10:00am at Marysville Baptist Church, Marysville, Texas.
