Doris Landrum Obituary
Doris was born to Walter Dean Oglesby and Martha Maglean Oglesby (née Duke). She grew up on the family farm just outside of Powder Springs, GA. Doris graduated from South Cobb High School, Class of 1955. A few years later, in 1957, she married the love of her life, James T. "Tom" Landrum, and the two were inseparable until his death in 1979.
Doris was a life-long resident of Cobb County, GA, until 2019, when she moved to the Shannondale Retirement Community in Maryville, TN.
Doris was a dedicated wife and homemaker. In the early 1970s, she earned her real estate license and began a successful career in sales and property management. Driven to excel, Doris transitioned to Cigna in the early 1980s, working in the retirement products division. Over the years, she advanced from an administrative role to Regional Sales Manager before retiring in 2001.
She loved gardening, playing cards and board games with friends and neighbors, and attending local concerts and theater productions. She enjoyed watching golf and college football, as well as binge-watching the Hallmark Channel during the holidays. An avid sleuth, she often scoured local newspapers for news about friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walker D. Oglesby and Martha M. Duke Oglesby; husband, James T. "Tom" Landrum"; and brother, Harold D. Oglesby.
She is survived by her children, Wesley Landrum (wife, Martha), Lisa Landrum Dickson (husband, Rich) and Rebecca Landrum; grandchildren, Thomas R. Landrum and Christine Dickson Ripsky (husband, Paul); and great-grandchildren, Owen Ripsky and Scott Ripsky.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 27, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
A private graveside service will be held at Mozley Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a tribute donation in Doris' memory to the American Cancer Society.
