Doris Lyons

Doris E. Lyons, age 95 of Hoffman and formerly of Boulder, passed away at Carlyle Healthcare and Senior Living on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

Doris was born in Boulder on November 8, 1930, a daughter of John and Cora (Pratt) Lanham. She married Clifford "Skip" Lyons in Indiana on January 2, 1948, and he preceded her in death on May 8, 2004.

Mrs. Lyons is survived by her nine children, Deann Carter (Jerry), Ramona Seats, Maura Hill (John), Robin Meyer, Anita Newkirk (Kent), Allen Lyons (Deb), Robert Lyons (Tammy), Ruth Rakey (David) and Chet Lyons. She was blessed with 20 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, John and Cora Lanham; her beloved husband, Clifford "Skip" Lyons; two sons-in-law, Mark Jondro and Steve Seats; and a granddaughter, Jody Jondro.

Doris was a lifelong member of Boulder Methodist Church and a farm wife who devoted her life to raising her nine children and caring for her family. While managing the many demands of farm life, she also maintained her independence and strong work ethic by holding several jobs over the years. In addition, Doris was the first woman to serve on the board of the Clinton County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Ferrin Co-Op Elevator Board. In quieter moments, she enjoyed sewing and quilting, often with a good book nearby, as she was an avid reader. Doris also loved playing dominos and Yahtzee, and one of her greatest joys was gathering with family for the weekly Wednesday evening potluck dinners that she always looked forward to.

Funeral services will be held at Boulder United Methodist Church, 18985 Boulder Rd, Shattuc, IL, on Sunday, March 8, 2026, with visitation from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM and a service to follow at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow at Pritchett Cemetery in Shattuc.
