Doris Auten Martin, 88, of Harrisburg, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023 at Atrium Health Cabarrus.
Doris was born May 10, 1935 to the late Johnnie Harrison Auten and the late Verdie Lee Johnston Auten. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Sheila Martin King; and 6 siblings.
Doris had worked at Harrisburg Florist and volunteered with the Harrisburg Lions Club. Doris was a member of Multiply Church, Harrisburg. She was a wonderful cook and made the best biscuits. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles, listening to bluegrass music and watching the Atlanta Braves (sometimes all at the same time). Most of all, Doris was a loving wife, mother, and Maw Maw.
Survivors include beloved husband of 67 years, Joe "Bobby" Martin of Harrisburg; daughter, Cheryl Martin Almond and husband, Chris, of Harrisburg; daughter, Michelle Martin of Harrisburg; son-in-law, Terry King of Charlotte; 3 grandchildren, Jay (Chelsea) King, Amanda (Evan) Smith, and Stacy (Ezekiel) Slobodiuk; 2 great-grandchildren, Noah Smith and Jayson King; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service in celebration of Doris' life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Hartsell Funeral Home's Harrisburg Chapel, officiated by Pastor Mike Thevenin. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Harrisburg.
