It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doris Faye McConathy, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Doris passed peacefully at her home on the evening of January 12, 2026. She was 82 years old.
A Life Full of Love and Adventure
Doris was born on April 19, 1943, in the town of Slayton, Texas. She was the daughter of Roy and Mary Holt and was the last surviving member of her five siblings. She married her high school sweetheart, Johnny McConathy, and together they built a beautiful life, raising two children: Mike and Shelli. Doris' family was the center of her universe, and she dedicated her life to their happiness and success.
Cherished Memories
Doris was known for her vibrant and optimistic personality, infectious laughter, and unwavering kindness. She loved to travel and shop, but most importantly she loved spending time with her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Gran." Her home was always open, fi lled with warmth, love, and a delicious array of endless treats!
Preceded and Survived By
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mary Holt; her husband, Johnny McConathy; her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Ann Holt; brother, Norman Holt; brother, Merrel Holt, as well as, her sister and brother-in-law Wanda and James Delaney.
She is survived by her children, Mike McConathy and his wife, Suzy, as well as Shelli Amason and her husband, Paul. Her grandchildren include Ricky McConathy and his wife, Courtney; April McConathy-Sanders; Kari Daughtrey and her husband, Chris; along with Todd, Nathan, Brianna, and Dylan Amason. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Morgan, Keaton, Kylie, Emily, Brody, Brenen, Mason, and June, in addition to, great-great grandchildren Colter, Wrenley, Ensley, and Wyatt.
Doris Faye McConathy will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, kindness, and optimistic spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
