Doris Lou (Doom) McGuins, 91, of Paducah, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Doris was born August 2, 1934, in Marshall County, KY, the daughter of the late Henry and Georgia Doom. She was a beloved matriarch and will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her dedication to family, and the warmth she brought to all who knew her.
Doris was a lifelong member of the Baptist faith and a member of Southland Baptist Temple in Paducah. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and influenced the way she cared for her loved ones and interacted with the world around her. She was a devoted wife, mother, and Mamaw, finding immense joy in nurturing her family and creating lasting memories.
She is survived by her daughter, Twyla McGuins Case (James) of Paducah; her son, Tim McGuins (Teresa) of Calvert City; eight grandchildren: Shawn Case (Emily) of Virginia, Josh Case (Stephanie) of Cookville, TN, Jason Combs (Julie) of Calvert City, KY, Jordan Combs (Jackie) of Tipp City, OH, Joseph Combs of Baton Rouge, LA, Stacey Ragsdale (Chris) of Benton, KY, Rain Marie Aquino (Ivan) of Spokane, WA, and Amber Chandler (Colby) of Ledbetter, KY. Her legacy continues through her nine great-grandchildren: Avery and Ethan Chandler, Levi and Alex Case, Grayson and Jack Ragsdale, and Bennett, Keira, and Ryder Combs, who brought her much delight and pride.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her devoted husband, William "Gene" McGuins; three sons, Kenton, Phillip, and Jeff McGuins; one daughter, Sandra McGuins; and two brothers, J.R. and Kenneth Doom. Each of these relationships shaped her life in significant ways, and they will be remembered alongside her.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 31, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home, located at 2410 Jackson Street, Paducah, KY 42003. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at Benton Cemetery in Marshall County, KY, with Jonathan Goodman officiating.
Doris Lou McGuins leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family that will continue to inspire her loved ones for years to come. She will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace.
