Doris Mae Crain McMahan, 84, of Wilmington, NC, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
She was born on September 16, 1940, in Rutherfordton, NC, to her parents, Carpenter Crain and Eva Mae Crain. Doris was the devoted wife of JL McMahan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Brandy-Jo Doris Long; two sisters, Emily Hardin and Rachel Sims; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Crain and Nan Crain; two brothers in laws Herman Toney and Nathan Odom; stepson, Lester McMahan; and step-son-in-law, Jimmy Dooling.
Doris was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Doris was a devoted member of Gilkey Church of God while living in Rutherfordton then she attended Brookfield Church of God in Wilmington, NC.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Joyce Runyon (Gary) of Wilmington, NC; her son, Tommy Wilson (Heather) of Rutherfordton, NC; her daughter, Polly Morrison (Jim) of Wilmington, NC; and her stepdaughter, Pam Dooling. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Patsy Linder (Bill), Dita Ree Toney, and Martha Odom; and three brothers, Marion Crain, Charles Crain (Jeanette), and Ronnie Crain. Doris also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Gilkey Church of God, 255 Oak Springs Road, Rutherfordton, NC, with the Rev. Travis Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
