Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hyke Funeral Home - Redfield on Jun. 6, 2024.
Doris Louise (Vetter) McNutt, 89, of Redfield, SD, and formerly of Rockham, SD, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Sanford Medical Center in Aberdeen, SD.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. A prayer service and time of sharing will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Redfield. Reverend Kevin D. Moore will officiate. Burial will follow at Rockham Grace Cemetery in Rockham, SD. Lunch and fellowship will follow at the Rockham Community Center.
Doris was born on February 18, 1935, in South Dakota, to Alfred John Paul and Clara Louise (Myers) Vetter. She grew up in the Rockham area and then married Dale Stanley McNutt.
She is survived by her son Brian (Dana) McNutt, brother Wayne Vetter, and sister Carol Vetter.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Betty Burton.
Doris was a huge cat lover and she always took care of the neighborhood cats. She enjoyed working at Headstart making sure kiddos were taken care of. She loved gardening, from vegetables to flowers, you name it, she loved to play in the dirt. She was a kid at heart.
The Breadbox was where Doris loved working. Her favorite part was when the kids came in to buy donuts on their way to school.
She would always make sure that when her son came home, there was a warm homemade pecan pie.
Garage sales were her kryptonite, she loved a good garage sale!
Doris opened her heart and her home to everyone. She will always be remembered
